Systemic Constellations

What Are Systemic Constellations?

Systemic constellations are a therapeutic approach rooted in the groundbreaking work of Bert Hellinger. His research revealed that any system—whether a family, group, or business—follows distinct principles, such as the right to belong, the flow of giving and receiving between generations, the precedence of new systems over old ones, and the equality and complementarity of men and women. This method allows participants to access genuine perceptions of the individuals they represent, uncovering deep-seated loyalties and the universal need for acknowledgment within a system. These insights foster healing and transformation.

Though initially perceived by some as “woo-woo” due to its enigmatic nature, Hellinger described it as a “language that works on the soul,” a poetic explanation for those who feel attuned to its effects. For more analytically inclined minds, scientific concepts such as morphic fields, energy balancing, and epigenetics offer potential frameworks to understand this phenomenon.

Regardless of perspective, many who experience a systemic constellation report remarkable results. It’s conceivable that, in time, science will offer an even clearer rationale.

In practice, participants experience profound relief, clarity, and peace after a session. Family secrets may surface, providing insight into long-standing patterns of entanglement, while businesses discover innovative strategies to enhance performance. The process empowers individuals to embark on a path of healing and transformation, ensuring their legacy as a “good ancestor.”

What Happens in a Constellation?
The seeker, also known as the issue holder, brings forward a personal, familial, or professional relationship challenge. Through the constellation process, they map out their relationship tree—highlighting key players whose influence is intricately tied to their wellbeing.

In family constellations, participants carry the weight of generational traumas, past experiences, and inherited influences.

Corporate constellations, on the other hand, offer key representatives the opportunity to deeply understand others' perspectives while also reflecting on their own. This unique process unveils hidden dynamics and reveals truths that are often beyond what the eye can perceive. As a result, the seeker gains awareness of entanglements that had been unknowingly carried, enabling release and improvements.

This isn’t a role-play exercise; rather, it’s a deeply transformative process that has evolved over the years. Scientific research suggests that generational traumas can lead to epigenetic changes that are passed down and impact the issue holder’s experiences. Similarly, in corporate constellations, unseen spheres of influence can significantly affect colleagues, shaping both individual and group performance. During a constellation session, the seeker’s morphic field is guided toward resolution.

Many of our clients reach out to share astonishing outcomes—sometimes on the same day, or weeks later—with stories of profound breakthroughs. The results often leave us equally amazed and inspired, reinforcing the power of constellations to foster healing and transformation.

So, why not take the first step? Allow yourself to embark on this remarkable journey of self-discovery, healing, and positive change. Who knows? You might just surprise yourself.

How is a constellation conducted?

Constellation work can be approached in two ways: one-on-one or in a group setting.

In a one-on-one session, our facilitator collaborates with you to map your constellation using a variety of techniques. These private sessions offer a quieter, introspective environment where even silent requests can be accommodated. Fascinatingly, the issue or the identities of the representatives don't need to be disclosed. The facilitator simply guides you toward a constellation that brings clarity and resolution.

Group family constellation sessions involve participants stepping into the roles you've assigned in your 'field.' This immersive process allows them to experience the emotions and sensations tied to those roles—bringing hidden dynamics to light. For instance, your ‘mother’ may express warmth and joy while observing her children, which could inspire a repositioning of familial relationships. No special training is required for participants; they are driven by their sincere desire to assist others.

In a corporate constellation, the issue holder or a team maps out their organisational dynamics. This method is particularly effective for uncovering challenges, understanding influences, and redesigning business models for optimal performance. For example, the international sales manager may suddenly perceive their distance from a specific country or lack of closeness to the operational manager—revelations that inspire meaningful adjustments. This process transcends role play, revealing hidden information and dynamics that often elude conscious observation.

The profound insights gained during constellations make them a powerful tool for understanding and resolving both personal and organisational challenges, paving the way for transformation.

Case Studies

Constellations conducted over trivial issues or out of mere curiosity often lack impactful results. In contrast, we’ve witnessed remarkable breakthroughs during constellations addressing deep-rooted challenges such as unexplainable chronic illnesses, recurring medical issues, persistent sadness or anger, repeated job losses, and more. These cases frequently uncover intricate family dynamics and generational trauma.

  • Rebuilding Family Bonds
Five years after a difficult divorce, D. had minimal contact with his daughters, who lived with their mother and were unwilling to see him. During a group constellation, participants connected to the feelings of his daughters—abandonment, jealousy, loss, and anger—offering D. new insight into their emotions. By adjusting his constellation, D. paved the way for reconciliation. A few months later, he shared that his daughters had reached out to make peace.

  • Discovering Hidden Influences
For two years, F. struggled with a lack of fulfillment at work, declining performance, unhealthy personal relationships, and worsening health. In his constellation, he mapped his maternal lineage and uncovered a pattern of suicides within his family. This revelation provided clarity about the darkness and internal pull he had been feeling. After addressing these entanglements during the session, F. reported a dramatic positive shift—a new job, a fresh start with a partner, and the sale of his house to begin a new chapter.

  • Healing Unspoken Family Secrets
After a tense exchange with a family member, L. sought to understand the underlying animosity. Her constellation revealed an unspoken miscarriage in the family, which had created a gap between the mother and one of her children. This child harbored resentment toward a sibling, as though this sibling had taken someone else’s place. By realigning the family dynamics during the session, L. found peace and resolution.

These examples illustrate how constellations can reveal profound truths, transform relationships, and support healing. The results speak for themselves—offering clarity, relief, and empowerment to those seeking a deeper understanding.
